* Re “Medicinal Pot Law a Can of Worms,” July 23.
Interesting to note in this article that the Ventura County District Attorney, for whom I have a great deal of respect, filed a lawsuit to shut down a cannabis club citing a threat to public health.
If this were truly an issue, how could they allow these “cheap cigarette” stores to operate or any store to sell tobacco when more than 400,000 people a year die from tobacco-related illness in the United States?
For that matter, how can they allow the sale of liquor? How many people die each year from alcohol-related illness or injury?
And what about a person’s right to choose? Where’s Rex Jones’ right to choose if he wants to grow some of this herb to help ease his wife’s pain, or maybe to ease of some of his own?
