Vista Del Mar Hospital, the American Society on Aging and the city’s Community Services Department are hosting a free seminar for senior citizens and those who care for the elderly.
The seminar, titled “Older Adults, Alcohol and Medications,” is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 13 at Vista Del Mar, 801 Seneca St., in Ventura.
The forum will focus on the importance of understanding the entire drug picture as it applies to seniors, said Richard Newsham, marketing and public affairs specialist for Ventura.
“Mixing alcohol, medications and homeopathic and herbal remedies can have adverse consequences,” he said.
Speakers will include Bradley Williams from the USC School of Pharmacy and Patrick Arbore of the Goldman Institute on Aging in San Francisco.
Lunch will be provided and reservations are required.
There is no charge to the public, but professionals seeking continuing education units for the course will pay a $15 fee. Application forms will be available at the seminar.
