Airline Safety

Re “FAA’s Safety Stance Again in Spotlight,” Feb. 27: In my dealings with the Federal Aviation Administration over the last number of years, I have reached the conclusion that the official mission of the FAA (“safety”) is interpreted by the FAA to mean safety of airline profits, not passenger safety.
The airline industry (through the Air Transport Assn.) controls the FAA and dictates its actions (or, more frequently, inaction). The image of the FAA serving the public is a sham.
