Students, faculty, administrators and family members gathered last week for a memorial service for Tom Fisher, a science teacher at Estancia High School.
The quiet, emotional ceremony was a tribute to the 33 years Fisher dedicated to Estancia students, who remembered him for his caring demeanor, encouragement and sense of humor.
The 61-year-old biology teacher died of a heart attack Nov. 22 in the very classroom in which he dedicated his life to teaching. Fisher was remembered Thursday with the planting and dedication of a Hawaiian palm, which was placed in the school’s science wing, where he taught.
