The city will replace equipment on the two playgrounds at West Newport Park in order to comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act and safety requirements.
Current safety regulations require separate play equipment in parks for toddlers and older kids. Unfortunately, the playgrounds--West Newport Park North and West Newport Park South--are too small to accommodate both types of equipment in each, so one will cater to toddlers and the other to older children. One will be replaced this year and the other next year.
The commission will take public comment at its 7 p.m. Tuesday meeting in City Hall, 3300 Newport Blvd.
