Irvine Unified School District trustees are expected to accept more than $200,000 from the city to restructure their administration when they meet today, although some said the school district may be moving too fast.
Board members voted 3 to 2 last month to introduce changes, which include hiring an outside chief financial officer and a human resources consultant. They had not decided, however, whether to use district funds or accept the city’s offer of funds. But if they agree to accept the city’s funds, the trustees will formally commit to one course of action.
“I think that we’ve made it very clear that we want to accept the city’s money,” said Jeanne Flint, the board’s president. “But I think the City Council would be very understanding if we waited until we knew what [the changes] were going to cost, as opposed to taking action before we know what it is that we’re going to spend.”
