The Orange County Health Care Agency closed a mile-long portion of Doheny State Beach, from the breakwater to the south end of the unincorporated strip of land, after a pair of spills at a Moulton Niguel Water District treatment plant in Mission Viejo.
On Saturday, roughly 21,000 gallons of raw sewage overflowed into Oso Creek, which ultimately empties onto the state beach, agency spokeswoman Monica Mazur said.
An unrelated blockage Tuesday caused 500 gallons of waste water to overflow into Oso Creek, Mazur said.
The beach will remained closed at least until Friday morning, Mazur said.
