The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified school board will meet tonight to consider a policy change regarding high school graduation requirements.
The change would allow students the option of studying 20 credits of algebra to meet their math requirements. Current policy requires students to take 10 credits of algebra I and 10 credits of geometry.
“It gives students more options,” district spokeswoman Karen Bass said. “It depends on what they want to do in the future.”
High school students need 20 credits or two years of math to graduate.
The district voted last year to make algebra mandatory for graduation from high school.
Tonight’s meeting begins at 7 in the Educational Services Center at 4999 Casa Loma Ave.
