The City Council this week approved $41,634 for a program that provides counseling to women who are victims of violence.
In the program, women recovering from crimes such as domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking are assigned a caseworker who provides not only emotional support but also helps them find financial assistance and a place to live.
This is the second year the city has contracted with Community Services Program Inc. for such counseling, which complements the work already being done by the Police Department’s crimes against persons unit.
