Linsey Buendia pitched a seven-hitter Friday and Chapman beat Roanoke College, 5-0, to remain in the winners’ bracket of the NCAA Division III softball championships in Salem, Va.
The top-seeded Panthers (38-9) will meet St. Mary’s of Minnesota, the tournament’s only other unbeaten team, in today’s final championship-bracket game. St. Mary’s defeated College of New Jersey, 7-0, on Friday.
Buendia (16-4) struck out three, coming back from a sore arm she developed while winning two games on the final day of last week’s regional tournament.
The Panthers scored three runs, two of them unearned, in the top of the first. Jen Prochaska, who had two hits, scored in the third on a wild pitch for a 4-0 lead.
