OCC Runners Finish 1-2 in 10,000 Meters

Zoila Gomez and Bernice Carbajal of Orange Coast finished one-two in the women’s 10,000 meter run Friday at the California Community College track and field championships in Bakersfield.
Gomez covered the distance in 37 minutes 18 seconds, with Carbajal (37:44) taking second. Fullerton College’s Quiana Starr finished second in the women’s long jump with an 18-3 mark.
Santa Ana’s Matt Primous (23-6 1/2) was sixth in the long jump and teammate Jason Carpenter finished 12th in the men’s hammer throw (139-0).
