An 81-year-old Placentia woman was killed and three people were seriously injured in a traffic accident Wednesday night in Placentia, authorities said.
Police said Domitila Diaz was killed when the car she was riding in was struck by Glenda Reel Pepper, 28, of Corona. Pepper was driving east on Orangethorpe Avenue around 8:30 p.m. about 60 mph when her car collided head-on with another car at the intersection of Placentia Avenue and Orangethorpe, police said.
Pepper; her 10-year-old son, whose name was not released; the driver of the other car, Nathan Diaz, 22; and Diaz’s grandmother, Domitila Diaz, were taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange. Domitila Diaz later died. The others were reported in critical condition Thursday, authorities said.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, Placentia Police Investigator Corinne Loomis said.
