Southland Rockin’ With the English

This week’s election showed that California sits to the left of the nation as a whole, but anyone who follows the weekly album sales charts knew that all along. After hanging in there with Radiohead’s “Kid A” longer than the rest of the country, Southern California record buyers showed their support last week for edgy English rocker PJ Harvey, making her new “Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea” No. 15 in the region, against No. 42 nationwide. U2, meanwhile, takes over the top spot.
