* Firestone brand tire sales dropped 40% in September and October in the wake of the massive U.S. recall, a top executive of parent Bridgestone Corp. of Japan told the Wall Street Journal’s interactive edition. President Yoichiro Kaizaki said the tire maker has raised estimates of its recall costs by 29% to about $450 million.
