Reading Conference to Be Held Oct. 28

The Ventura County Reading Assn. will hold its annual fall reading conference Oct. 28.
Teachers from across the county are invited to attend the event, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.
Joan Macon, from the California Reading Assn., will deliver the keynote speech: “Beyond Harry Potter; How do we keep kids reading?” and discuss the state’s new list of recommended reading materials for students from kindergarten through high school. Caro Jago, director of the California Reading and Literature Project at UCLA, will offer strategies on how to keep students interested in literature and longer books.
