Maritime Museum to Hold Auction

The Ventura County Maritime Museum will host its eighth annual fund-raising auction at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Ventura Yacht Club.
Some of the items available for auction include paintings by local artists, handmade ship models, a private tour of the Point Hueneme Lighthouse and a field trip for kids aboard the Channel Islands Floating Lab, said Mark Bacin, the museum’s executive director.
Other items up for bid include a firetruck ride and dinner for a family of four prepared by members of the Oxnard Fire Department.
The museum does not receive any money from county government, so it depends on private donations and fund-raisers to help pay for exhibits and educational programs, Bacin said.
The museum typically raises about $10,000 during its annual auction, he said.
Auction items can be previewed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
Admission to the event is $20 per person and includes food.
The museum will continue its “Dutch Masters: Art of the Sea” exhibit through Jan. 31.
The Ventura Yacht Club is at 1755 Spinnaker Drive.
