A busy Anaheim street was closed for three hours Tuesday after the death of a man believed to have thrown himself into the path of an oncoming train, authorities said.
The incident happened about 3:30 p.m., when the man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train at a crossing on State College Boulevard near Edison Field, said Sgt. Bill Jefferson, a spokesman for the Anaheim Police Department. The accident blocked the street in both directions between Katella and Howell avenues until coroner’s personnel could remove the body, he said.
Police did not identify the man pending notification of relatives.
