CHICAGO — Oprah Winfrey, known for chatting about books and spirituality, will venture into the political arena next month with season-opening guest Al Gore.
Winfrey has scheduled a live interview with the Democratic presidential nominee for Sept. 11, the first show of her 15th season, Winfrey spokeswoman Audrey Pass said Thursday.
Winfrey has done interviews with political figures, including First Ladies Barbara Bush and Hillary Rodham Clinton, but the context was decidedly apolitical.
Producers also have invited Republican nominee George W. Bush to appear. Bush has not responded.
