Public Invited to Help Paint Campus

Allied Artists of the Santa Monica Mountains and Seashore is inviting its members and the public to set up easels and help paint the mission architecture at the local Cal State University.
The campus architecture is unusual, with Catalina tile, courtyards, massive oak and sycamore trees and rock formations, according to Pat Ryan, president of Allied Artists.
“There are some interesting formations that are unique and old. The building is very sprawled out, and there is some play equipment for children,” she said.
Artists should bring their own art supplies, comfortable walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, water and a picnic lunch. The parking fee is $4.
The event will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the campus, a satellite of Cal State Northridge that is scheduled to evolve into an independent university, Cal State Channel Islands.
It is being put on by Allied Artists of the Santa Monica Mountains and Seashore, as well as the Studio Channel Islands Fine Art Center.
For more information, call Allied Artists President Pat Ryan at (310) 457-9130.
