Thank you for your well-written comments concerning the placement of the memorial to the brave defenders of liberty. My father served in World War II, so I have a personal interest in honoring his generation. But not in that place and not in that form.
America needs the National Mall in Washington as a place in which to gather in large numbers to express our opinions. The mall is our hallowed ground for civil rights. Perhaps the Park Service is afraid of such large gatherings and the sweeping policy changes to the status quo that have emerged.
