Oklahoma City bomber Timothy J. McVeigh, awaiting execution in a Terre Haute, Ind., prison, told his father he would not apologize for killing 168 people in 1995 and was ready to die, CNN reported.
“He seems happy. You can joke and talk about it. He says he’s ready to die. Don’t seem to bother him,” CNN quoted William McVeigh as saying in an off-camera interview.
“I asked him if he would apologize and he says no. He said if he did apologize, he’d make a lot of people happy, but he’d be lying,” the retired factory worker who lives in Pendleton, N.Y., told CNN.
McVeigh, 33, is scheduled to die by injection May 16. He has asked his family not to attend his execution.
