A man awaiting trial for allegedly trying to a cash a tax refund check stolen from Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss was arrested Friday on suspicion of using money from other bad checks to pay his bail, according to the FBI.
Dwayne Kellum, 37, of Long Beach was arrested on federal fraud charges at a home formerly occupied by the parents of fugitive Jesse James Hollywood. The coincidence confused neighbors, who thought there was a break in the Hollywood case, an FBI spokesman said.
Kellum paid his $10,000 bail from an account into which he deposited stolen checks, the FBI said.
