Re “Bill Would Let Public Buy New Pepper Weapon,” July 29: If PepperBall units will help citizens defend themselves against the predatory “dirtbags” who populate too many of our streets, then let them have them. Better yet, if our liberal legislators in Sacramento had a grip on reality, they would let citizens who can qualify have permits to carry concealed weapons, as 33 other states do. Also note that the violent crime rate in those states has decreased.
