Freeway Over-Crossing, Offramp to Open Today
- Share via
Under pressure to speed up work on the jammed and construction-torn Costa Mesa Freeway, Caltrans officials said today’s opening of a heavily traveled offramp and over-crossing should serve as proof the $118-million widening job is approaching an end.
The effort to widen the highway between the Riverside and Garden Grove freeways started in 1999, and has left motorists and some freeway-close merchants fuming about the congestion, debris and detours. The job is scheduled to be completed in early 2002.
The reconfigured offramp to Chapman Avenue is expected to eliminate the snarl between motorists entering the Costa Mesa Freeway and those exiting the Garden Grove Freeway.
