A 1,000-foot stretch of Doheny State Beach in Dana Point was closed to swimming and surfing Friday after a 250-gallon sewage spill, county health officials reported.
The spill was blamed on a clogged line in a sewage collection system operated by the South Coast Water District.
The ocean for 500 feet on each side of San Juan Creek will be closed indefinitely until water quality improves, officials said.
