Tourism Reaches New Depths in New Zealand

DUNEDIN, New Zealand--Tourists can now make in-depth explorations of New Zealand’s scenic Milford Sound aboard a submarine that descends 330 feet.
Each year, thousands of international tourists visit the glacier-carved sound on the southeast coast of New Zealand’s South Island to admire its pristine waters and wildlife. A local company, Submarines Australasia, launched the underwater adventure this month.
The four-passenger sub, about the size of a family car, has a large acrylic dome. Tickets cost about $164 to $206 per person for a one-hour dive. 011-64-3-474-1782, www.submarines.co.nz.
