Man Shot to Death at Family Party

A 20-year-old man was shot to death on Monday during a family celebration, police said.
Jesus Martinez was shot in the chest at about 10 p.m. in the 200 block of South Vernon Avenue, said Sheriff’s Deputy Rich Pena. His family was having a party in the backyard when Martinez went outside to his car, Pena said. He was shot once in the chest, police said.
Police have identified no motive or suspect, Pena said. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at (323) 890-5500.
