In Old Times, Day of Rest Wasn’t Relaxing Either

I read “ ‘Day of Rest’ Is Now Another Round on the Hamster Wheel” (Jan. 28) with a common interest until I discovered that through [the writer’s] rose-colored lenses of nostalgia she completely missed the paradox of her wish.
Unfortunately, Ms. Reimer, if we were able to re-create the Sundays of our childhood, we would find that we, wives and mothers, would still be running on our hamster wheels getting the children dressed, preparing a big meal, cleaning up. . . .
