School Vouchers

* The major problem with school vouchers (“Voucher Deal Takes Shape With Proposal by Democrats,” Feb. 7) is the word “vouchers.” I believe that they would be more easily accepted and approved if they were called by the more friendly--and accurate--name: “scholarships.” These scholarships would allow the parents to send their children to schools of their choice and would do as much for schoolkids as the college scholarships under the GI Bill did for the veterans after World War II.

Are we just talking about vouchers or are we talking about “faith-based education”?
