Bombing Victims

The front-page photo on Tuesday showed President Bush and his wife obviously touched by the plight of families of the Oklahoma City bombing. It’s hard to reconcile this image with Bush pulling the trigger on Iraqi lives, some civilian, a few days before.
Will Laura Bush weep for the families in Iraq whose lives have been destroyed by a systematic violence ordered by her husband? I guess once you define a group of people as the enemy, there’s no need for first-family tears on their behalf or any acknowledgment that those murdered had families and children and dreams. Their dreams are in a different language, from a different culture. The Bushes weep only for English-speaking victims.
