Mater Dei Boys Win Coin Toss for Semifinal

Top-seeded Mater Dei, the only Orange County boys’ basketball team to win a coin toss Saturday, will play Claremont in a Southern Section Division I-A semifinal Tuesday at Ocean View High.
Third-seeded Villa Park lost a coin toss and will play second-seeded Corona Centennial at Corona Santiago High in the other Division I-A semifinal. The semifinal winners will play for the championship Saturday at the Pond.
Capistrano Valley, El Toro and Santa Margarita will play on the road because they have played more home games in the playoffs than their opponents.
Capistrano Valley will play second-seeded Rialto Eisenhower at Rialto High in Division I-AAA. Top-seeded El Toro will play fourth-seeded Thousand Oaks at Westlake Village Westlake High in Division I-AA. And second-seeded Santa Margarita will play third-seeded Inglewood at Culver City High in Division II-AA.

Dana Hills, the top-seeded team in the Southern Section Division I boys’ playoffs and the top-ranked team in Orange County, will be at Arcadia on Tuesday in the semifinals. The Dolphins (23-3-3) have outscored their three playoff opponents, 11-1.
Unseeded Los Alamitos (19-2-5) will play at Long Beach Millikan or Bell Gardens in the other semifinal.
In the Division II semifinals, top-seeded El Dorado (23-1-2) will play at La Puente Nogales and third-seeded Mater Dei (23-2-4) will travel to Woodbridge (20-4-4).
In Division III, top-seeded La Verne Bonita will host unseeded Brea Olinda (25-1-3) and third-seeded Santa Margarita (22-4-3) will travel to second-seeded Santa Barbara, in what could be a high-scoring game.
Santa Barbara has outscored its three opponents, 15-0, and Santa Margarita has outscored its opponents, 13-1. The Eagles are shooting for their fifth consecutive Division III title.
In Division V, second-seeded St. Margaret’s (17-4-1) will travel to Ontario Christian.
