A 10-year-old boy crushed to death under the wheels of a big rig was identified as Buena Park resident Boston Rivers by police on Wednesday.
Boston, described as “a wonderful child,” was skating downhill on a sidewalk on Valley View Avenue about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday with his 13-year-old brother and another 13-year-old boy.
He apparently lost control of his in-line skates and failed to stop at the Trinidad Way intersection, authorities said. He slid under the rear wheels of a 50-foot big-rig truck that was turning onto Trinidad Way and died instantly, Buena Park Police Sgt. Chris Nunez said.
Boston’s family could not be reached for comment Wednesday. One neighbor, who identified herself as Mrs. Fields, said her son knew the boy. “He was a really good kid,” Fields said. “He was a wonderful child.”
The driver of the truck does not appear to have been at fault in the accident, authorities said.
