Gender Gap in Schools

Re “A Math Class of Their Own,” Jan. 10: Although professionals are trying hard to narrow the small gap between males and females in science and math performance, they are ignoring the fact that females are doing much better in other areas: Honors students are predominately female.
It seems that females will get all the guidance and assistance possible for their utmost success while males are on their own. When I went through school, teachers reprimanded and castigated males much more easily than the females, who were to be treated like ladies. No one will tell me that this atmosphere was any different than at other schools. To blame female shortcomings on male behavior shows how misandrist a society we have become.
