* The Port of Los Angeles handled 29% more incoming and outbound cargo last year, shattering its 1999 record, officials said. The new record, which included unprecedented import and export traffic, stood at 4.9 million 20-foot containers that passed through the harbor, versus 3.8 million the year before.
