Riders Avoid Serious Injury

Jockeys David Flores, Chris McCarron and Omar Berrio escaped serious injury Friday after being involved in separate incidents at Hollywood Park.
Flores, who had just arrived in the paddock to ride Forward March in the second race, was kicked by the 4-year-old colt. Removed from the area on a stretcher, Flores was taken to Centinela Hospital. X-rays proved negative, but Flores needed stitches for his mouth.
In the fifth race, McCarron was dumped when his mount, Queenoftheprom, stumbled badly at the start of the 1 1/16-mile turf race. McCarron walked off under his own power, but took off his final mount, Mary Moscow, in the seventh.
Berrio also missed his final mount, Fueguero, in the eighth race. Berrio was unseated by No Fooling, who had to be scratched after acting up before the start of the sixth.
