Peacekeepers Seize Arms in Kosovo; 2 Men Held

U.S. peacekeepers said they had seized hundreds of mortar rounds as well as other ammunition and weapons after searching houses and a vehicle in southeastern Kosovo.
The seizure was the latest in a series by North Atlantic Treaty Organization peacekeepers trying to crack down on the smuggling of weapons to ethnic Albanian guerrillas in nearby Macedonia.
Peacekeepers found 372 mortar rounds, 40 shotgun shells and 42 detonation fuses in a van stopped in the town of Surlane. Two men in the van were detained, said the NATO-led KFOR peacekeeping force in Kosovo, a province of Serbia, the main Yugoslav republic.
Two hand grenades, 14 guns and ammunition were found in homes in a nearby village, KFOR said.
