Council Plans to Hire Energy Consultant

City Council members have set aside $30,000 to hire an energy consultant.
One of the biggest questions the consultant may be asked is whether the city should seek an alternative to Southern California Edison.
Options could include buying power from a different provider, forming a collective buying pool with other cities or becoming a power provider itself.
City leaders expect to wait several months before hiring the consultant, said Assistant City Manager Laura Magelnicki. That’s largely because city officials want to wait and see what municipal power legislation and funding are approved by state lawmakers this year.
