Housing Affordability in State Unchanged at 32%

The number of Californians able to afford homes in California was unchanged from the same period a year ago, at 32%, according to the California Assn. of Realtors.
Orange and San Diego counties tied as the least affordable in Southern California, with 24% of residents able to afford homes. Orange County’s affordability fell 3 percentage points from last year, and San Diego County’s inched down only 1 percentage point.
About 35% of Ventura County’s residents could afford a median-priced home in April, up 6 percentage points from a year ago.
In Los Angeles County, the affordability index rose to 37% from 35%, and Riverside and San Bernardino counties’ slipped to 47% from 48%. San Francisco remained the least affordable county in the state, with only 10% of its residents able to afford a median-priced home.
