Camacho, Glendale Get Good Start

Eddie Camacho pitched a six-hitter and Glendale College opened the state junior college baseball playoffs Friday with an 8-1 victory over Cerritos at Riverside City College.
The four-team, double-elimination tournament continues today in Riverside, with the winner advancing to next week’s second round.
Glendale (31-10), the Western State Conference Southern Division champion, took a 4-0 lead in the first inning.
Camacho, a freshman left-hander from Sylmar High, struck out seven and walked one.
Evan Shahak had two doubles for Glendale.
In other college baseball games:
CS Northridge 15, CS Sacramento 5--Kameron Loe allowed 12 hits but just two runs in seven innings in a Big West Conference victory at Sacramento.
J.T. Stotts and Robert Smith each had four hits for Northridge (29-22, 7-9 in conference play).
Pepperdine 14, Portland 2--Woody Cliffords and Jared Pitney each had four hits to pace a 21-hit attack for the Waves (37-15, 23-5) in a West Coast Conference victory at Pepperdine.
Daniel Haren (10-3) allowed six hits, struck out four and walked none in seven innings.
Men’s Tennis
Pepperdine 5, Western Michigan 0--Al Garland won, 6-4, 6-2, and Stefan Suter won, 6-1, 6-2, for the 20th-ranked Waves (18-7) in a first-round match at the NCAA championships at Indiana State.
High School Baseball
Newbury Park 14, Agoura 2--Nick Dziem and Jacob Evseff each had three hits and the Panthers (10-15-1, 2-9-1) won a Marmonte League game at Newbury Park.
The game was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.
Lancaster 13, Quartz Hill 2--Art Oritz hit a three-run home run and Ryan Jefferson had a solo homer for the Eagles (25-4-1, 14-1) in a Golden League game at Quartz Hill.
Justin Zarley pitched a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts and four walks for Lancaster.
The game was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.
St. Bonaventure 2, Oak Park 1--Mike McCullouch hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning for the host Seraphs (15-8, 7-5), who tied Oak Park for second place in the Tri-Valley League.
Gilbert Infante allowed two hits with three strikeouts in three innings, and reliever Josh Barrington allowed no runs, hits or walks in four innings for St. Bonaventure.
Poly 9, Grant 0--Left-hander Joe Hampel pitched a one-hitter and struck out nine to help Poly (19-6-1, 9-2) clinch the Sunset Six League championship at Birmingham.
Nevil Vega broke up Hampel’s no-hit bid with a one-out single in the seventh inning.
Viewpoint 7, Windward 1--Nick Fries pitched a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts and no walks for the Patriots (14-5, 11-1) in a Liberty League game at Viewpoint.
High School Softball
Notre Dame 7, Alemany 0--Cori Blanton hit a bases-loaded triple in the first inning for the Knights (18-7, 7-3), who clinched second place in the Mission League at Van Nuys-Sherman Oaks Park.
Amanda De La Cerda pitched a one-hitter for Notre Dame.
Montclair Prep 4, Crossroads 2--Jessica Madick’s two-run single sparked a four-run first inning for the Mounties (14-7, 9-1), who clinched the Delphic League title--the school’s first in softball.
