* WorldCom Inc. said it plans to cut 1,000 jobs in Europe as it trims spending and streamlines its work force. The telecommunications giant declined to give worldwide employment totals. When WorldCom laid off about 6,000 U.S. employees in March as part of a restructuring, the reduction amounted to about 7% of its global work force.
