Police Probe Suspicious Cylinder at Hospital

Police cordoned off part of Anaheim Memorial Medical Center about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday after an employee spotted a suspicious-looking cylinder behind the pharmacy. Four hours later, a bomb squad and hazardous-materials crew determined that the object was a counterbalance weight discarded by an employee, Anaheim Police Sgt. Rick Martinez said.
Because the foot-high cylinder resembled those used at hospitals for radiological materials, police moved three employees from workstations and closed a hallway.
