LAS VEGAS — At the age of 42, Fred Couples and Tom Lehman agree that sometimes rest isn’t such a bad idea.
Their putters seem to have enjoyed the break too. The two returned from extended layoffs to find their missing putting strokes, shooting nine-under 63s Wednesday to share the first-round lead in the Invensys Classic at Las Vegas.
On an ideal day for scoring, Couples and Lehman made nine birdies to top the crowded leaderboard with four rounds left in the 90-hole tournament.
Craig Parry, Rory Sabbatini, Joe Ogilvie and Tom Pernice Jr. were a shot back at 64.
