Cowboys have climbed to No. 6 national ranking after runner-up finish to fourth-ranked McFarland in Clovis Invitational on Saturday.
2. Long Beach Poly (SS--Moore)
Jackrabbits haven’t won an invitational, but are talented enough to rank ninth in nation.
3. Riverside Rubidoux (SS--Sunkist)
Falcons are third in state Division I rankings after placing third in Clovis Invitational.
4. Dana Point Dana Hills
(SS--South Coast)
Dolphins expected to win Orange County championships on Saturday.
5. Temecula Valley (SS--Southwestern)
Golden Bears should contend for title in Inland Empire Challenge on Saturday.
6. Rosemead Bosco Tech
(SS--Camino Real)
Senior Mark Batres has led Tigers to small schools titles in Clovis and Great American invitationals.
7. Lake Forest El Toro (SS--South Coast)
Chargers look to redeem themselves in Orange County championships after finishing 12th in Clovis Invitational.
8. Oak Park (SS--Tri-Valley)
Eagles soaring high after runaway victory in Division IV race of Stanford Invitational on Sept. 29.
9. Barstow (SS--Desert Sky)
Aztecs won Division I title in Kenny Staub Invitational on Saturday after taking Division II race in Yucaipa Invitational previous week.
10. Costa Mesa Estancia
(SS--Pacific Coast)
Eagles defeated Norwalk to win Division II title in Central Park Invitational on Saturday.
GIRLS
1. Dana Point Dana Hills
(SS--South Coast)
Dolphins ranked ninth in nation despite being at less than full strength all season.
2. Murrieta Valley (SS--Southwestern)
Nighthawks, ranked 15th nationally, are heavily favored to win Inland Empire Challenge on Saturday.
3. Irvine Woodbridge (SS--Sea View)
Warriors placed third in Division II race at Stanford Invitational on Sept. 29.
4. Yucaipa (SS--San Andreas)
Thunderbirds’ next big race will be Mt. San Antonio College Invitational on Oct. 20.
5. Anaheim Esperanza (SS--Sunset)
Aztecs dominated Sunset League meet last week that included No. 8 Fountain Valley.
6. Chino Hills Ayala (SS--Sierra)
Bulldogs defeated Canyon Country Canyon to win large-schools race of Clovis Invitational on Saturday.
7. Palos Verdes Peninsula (SS--Bay)
Panthers were runaway winners in Division I race of Kenny Staub Invitational on Saturday.
8. Fountain Valley (SS--Sunset)
Barons finished second to Esperanza in talent-laden Sunset League meet last week.
9. Canyon Country Canyon (SS--Foothill)
Cowboys took five of the top 10 places in second Foothill League meet of season Thursday.
10. Thousand Oaks (SS--Marmonte)
Lancers make first top-10 appearance after defeating Simi Valley Royal, 25-30, on Thursday.
