Rams’ Warner Is Enjoying Great Indoors of St. Louis

Times NFL writer Sam Farmer poses--and answers--the burning questions for this week’s games:

Question: Is Kurt Warner a homebody?

Answer: Is he ever. He hasn’t lost a regular-season start in St. Louis, going 15-0. Since 1980, the only quarterback to begin his career with a better home record was the Dallas Cowboys’ Danny White (16-0).

Q: What happened to that skinny guy who wears No. 84 for the Vikings?

A: We’re not sure, because Randy Moss sure looks different these days. He’s off to the slowest five-game start of his career and dropped three passes Sunday in a 31-26 victory over Detroit. He has a sore ankle, but like most receivers, he uses his hands to catch.

Q: Has Chicago finally discovered stability?

A: The Bears have started the same 11 players on offense two weeks in a row. The last time they did that was more than three years ago. In the last 38 games, they have shuffled the starting lineup 36 times.

Q: Why is Steve Mariucci smiling?

A: His 49ers are 2-0 on the road. That might not sound like much, but they were a combined 3-13 away from 3Com Park the last two seasons.

Q: What does it take to humble the Raven defense?

A: Quite a bit. The unit surrendered touchdown drives of 59, 74, 80 and 82 yards in a 31-23 loss to the Packers, yet they didn’t lose a shred of swagger. “You ain’t humbling this defense,” defensive tackle Tony Siragusa said. “It’s not a one-game season. We might even lose another one down the road--who knows? We’re still going to get up the next day, get a little ticked off and try to rip your throat out.”
