Deer Hunter Shoots Self Falling Out of a Tree

A deer hunter from Pacoima who accidentally shot himself when he fell out of a tree was recovering Sunday at a Mission Hills hospital, a nurse said.
Chris Garcia, 22, was taken off a ventilator and “doing really, really well” at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, nursing supervisor Marie Ogilvie said.
Garcia was hunting deer with four other men in Angeles National Forest on Saturday morning. His rifle fired when he fell, causing wounds to his face and hand, sheriff’s officials said.
