NASCAR Donation After GOP Backs Autopsy Law

NASCAR gave $15,000 to Florida’s Republican Party the day after a judge upheld a GOP-supported law and refused to unseal autopsy photos of racing legend Dale Earnhardt, according to a report.
NASCAR and GOP officials denied any connection between the contribution and the Legislature’s swift passage of a law blocking public access to autopsy photos unless a judge grants an exemption.
The law was adopted in March after Earnhardt was killed during the Daytona 500.
A student-run newspaper, and Websitecity.com of DeLand, Fla., sued for the photos’ release. But on June 13, a judge ruled against them.
