Motorist Dies After Truck Veers Off Road

A 40-year-old Santa Paula man was killed over the weekend after the truck he was driving ran off the road in the Ventura foothills.
Michael Paul Hines lost control of his pickup along a turn on Foothill Road just east of Court Avenue about 10:45 p.m. Saturday, Ventura police said.
The truck flipped and landed in a drainage culvert, trapping Hines. Police worked for more than an hour to extricate him. He was pronounced dead at the scene around midnight.
