Priest Arrested in 23-Year-Old Abuse Case

A priest was being held Tuesday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a teenage boy 23 years ago.
Robert Freitas, formerly a priest at Santa Paula Catholic Church in Fremont, was arrested Monday and booked on suspicion of molesting the unidentified 15-year-old over a year in 1979.
The alleged molestations included several incidents of inappropriate touching and other acts, police said.
Freitas was arrested at his residence at Saint Alphonsus church in San Leandro.He was being held on $50,000 bond.
