A 23-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday in the unincorporated Florence area in an apparent gang-related attack, authorities said.
The attack in the 6100 block of Naomi Avenue near Central Avenue was reported about 5 a.m., said sheriff’s Deputy Rich Pena.
The unidentified victim was talking to a friend in front of a home when a gray minivan carrying three young men drove up to him, Pena said.
The victim and the other young men argued, and then at least one of the men opened fire, striking the victim in the upper body, Pena said. He died at the scene.
Police said they believe the assailants are ages 18 to 25 but released no further description. Their vehicle was last seen heading west on 61st Street.
Anyone with information is asked to call sheriff’s homicide detectives at (323) 890-5500.
