Hospitalized Boy Was Drug Mule, Police Say

A 12-year-old boy who fell ill after swallowing 87 heroin-filled condoms, allegedly to smuggle into the United States from Nigeria, was released from the hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The boy, a U.S. citizen who moved to Nigeria to live with grandparents two years ago, was not identified because of his age. He arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Wednesday, according to reports. The boy took a taxi to meet his drug delivery contact. During the ride the boy fell ill and asked to be taken to police, reports said. He was later taken to the hospital.
